Hi, it’s Gedalya,
We live in a world that promises everything fast and easy—food at a tap, answers in a second, even “instant” relationships. But after years of making music and meeting people in all walks of life—including behind prison walls—I can tell you this: real satisfaction can’t be rushed.
There’s a special kind of joy that only comes from honest effort. You feel it when you pour yourself into something that matters—when you stick with it through the tough days and come out the other side stronger. That’s the kind of fulfillment you can’t buy or shortcut. It’s earned.
I learned this lesson the hard way. Years back, I studied to become a massage therapist and personal trainer in Florida. I liked the idea, but my heart wasn’t in it. I went through the motions, got the diploma, even did some work—but it never felt real, because I didn’t truly invest myself.
Music, though? That’s different. My prison visits? Same thing. I give all I’ve got, and that’s where I find meaning. It’s not always easy, but it always feels right.
The same goes for relationships. They start out easy, full of promise. But when things get hard, it’s tempting to walk away. The truth is, anything worth having takes work. It’s the effort that makes it real.
In prison, I’ve met so many people who chased shortcuts—who wanted something quick, and paid the price. That’s why I share this message: the long road, the hard work, the willingness to struggle—these are what fill the soul.
So, here’s my reminder for all of us:
You’ll feel better about what you’ve built when you’ve worked for it. The harder the journey, the deeper the joy.
May we all have the courage to embrace the effort, take the long road when it really matters, and find satisfaction not just in what we achieve—but in who we become along the way.
If you’d like to bring this message of hope, music, and real inspiration to your facility or community, invite me to perform a live event. Let’s fill some souls—together.
With blessings,
Gedalya – Director of A New Song USA
