Hey there!
It’s Gedalya. I have been reflecting on how my faith has reshaped my aspirations in music, and I’d like to share that journey with you.
Music has always been a part of my life, but the reasons behind it have changed dramatically over the years.
In the beginning, music was about success in the traditional sense. I admired classic rock artists who could lift me out of the everyday grind and make life feel extraordinary. They inspired me, and I wanted to do the same for others. I dreamed of fame and fortune, adoring fans, and the freedom to live without constraints. This was the American dream, and I was chasing it with all I had.
A Shift in My Perspective
As I grew more spiritual, my perspective on music and what I wanted from it began to shift. The focus on personal glory started to feel light. I realized that putting people, including myself, on a pedestal wasn’t what I wanted. It didn’t taste right anymore.
I began to see that our focus should be on something greater. It should be on connecting with the divine rather than idolizing humans.
Mistakes on stage became less daunting. My purpose became clearer: to guide listeners toward a positive message, which is to give rather than to take.
Music as a Tool for Giving
With this new perspective, music transformed for me into a tool for sharing truth and positive messages. I noticed that my stage fright and performance anxiety began to diminish. I often felt overwhelmed by the expectations and responsibilities of being in the spotlight. That pressure was always on me to prove myself.
However, once I shifted my focus from myself to the message I wanted to convey, the pressure lifted.
Now, when I perform, my aim is to connect with my audience and share uplifting ideas.
Becoming a Giver Through Music
Spirituality teaches that the ultimate goal in life is to become a giver. Many people talk about losing their ego, and I have come to understand that this loss is essential for contributing positively to society. We can learn to give more and take less by emulating the ways of God. Music became a way to embody this principle for me.
My songs now reflect this transformation. They are no longer just a means of expressing my own feelings. They are messages of hope, love, and connection. I aim to give back to the community and encourage others to do the same through my music.
This powerful shift has not only influenced my songwriting, but has also helped me grow as a person.
Final Thoughts: The Journey Continues
As I continue to explore the connection between faith and music, I hope to inspire others to find their own paths of giving through their passions. Thank you for joining me on this journey—I look forward to sharing more with you next time.
If my journey resonates with you, I invite you to support our mission at A New Song USA. Your encouragement and generosity help us share music and hope with those who need it most.
Until then, may your own journey be filled with purpose and joy!
